Marvel Gold continues to expand resources at Tabakorole gold project
Junior explorer Marvel Gold (ASX: MVL) has launched an extensive drilling program on its Tabakorole gold project in southern Mali, targeting new discoveries and continued expansion of existing resources.
The company will begin with approximately 15,000 meters of air drilling and 5,000 meters of reverse circulation work using a multi-purpose platform that is mobilized on site.
It will also perform 15,000 m of auger drilling to track numerous targets identified from the geochemistry and magnetism of multi-element soils.
The auger and air drilling will sample the interface between the overlying soil and the underlying geology at Tabakorole and is considered an important first pass screening tool to identify potentially economical concentrations of gold mineralization for tracking exploration.
The choice between auger drilling and coring will be based on the depth of the cover and the strength of the corresponding geochemical anomaly.
Reverse circulation infill drilling will be drilled in the northwest extension of the project and on other nearby targets considered to be accretive to existing gold resources of 1.025 million ounces at a grade of 1.2 grams per tonne.
Marvel also plans to conduct a soil sampling program on recently acquired permits around Tabakorole, including Sirakourou Sud, Ngolobala, Tanhala and Naniola, as well as the neighboring Kolondieba project.
Further exploration work will include a geophysical survey covering all of the southern Tabakorole concessions using high-resolution airborne magnetism and radiometry to allow future targeting.
Executive Director Chris van Wijk said the company was excited about Tabakorole’s exploration potential.
“We are looking forward to our first auger drilling program to test the geochemical targets generated during our first year of exploration at Tabakorole,” he said.
“We have a number of solid targets defined by gold in soils as well as a range of scouts compatible with the signature of the mineralization of the project. [and we believe] any other discovery will be economically significant.
Marvel has identified promising regional trends from Groot, Asgard, Astro, and Wakanda that require follow-up work.
Groot is in the same structural corridor as Tabakorole and was defined by three discrete geochemical anomalies highlighting similar elements including arsenic, tellurium and tungsten as well as mineralized intersections of 4 m at 1.3 g / t gold from 8 m and 4 m at 2.7 g / t gold from 20 m.
Asgard is along the strike of known mineralization drilled on the T1 target, including an exceptional intersection of 14 m at 9.8 g / t.
It includes two geochemical anomalies with elemental associations similar to the known mineralization at Tabakorole.
Astro is the northwestern continuation of the Asgard trend and contains a significant tellurium and tungsten anomaly, as well as a discrete magnetic anomaly with coincident gold, arsenic, tungsten and tellurium near the boundary. north of the building.
This anomaly is located 300 m south of known mineralization on the Garalo building owned by Contango Holdings, listed on the London Stock Exchange.
Wakanda is defined by two regional shear zones which are visible in Marvel’s magnetic data.
The shears exhibit a coincident arsenic and gold anomaly at various locations along the axis, which would be typical of shear systems in Birimian terranes.
