Ohio State Announces New Senior Vice President of Talent, Culture and Human Resources


President Kristina M. Johnson sent the following email to the Ohio State University community today (July 19).

Dear Ohio State Community:

I am delighted to share with you today that Dr. Jeff Risinger will be the next Senior Vice President of Talent, Culture and Human Resources for Ohio State, effective Monday, August 16.

Dr Risinger has extensive experience shaping cultures and leading human resource organizations in higher education, government and business. He will join us from Texas A&M University, where he serves as Vice President for Human Resources and Organizational Effectiveness. At Texas A&M, Dr. Risinger has led efforts to increase diverse recruitment for faculty and staff, created new leadership development and coaching programs, and established Human Resources as a strategic partner to the university scale. Previously, he was Director of Human Resources and Vice Chancellor of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Director of Human Capital at the Federal Housing Finance Agency and Director of Human Capital at the United States Securities and Exchange Commission. United. Overall, he brings nearly three decades of experience in building strategic groups of talent and cultures to become important partners in their organizations.

As the Ohio State’s senior advisor on workplace and human resources issues, Dr. Risinger will demonstrate leadership throughout the university to support our values, help advance our diversity efforts and d inclusion and continue to foster a Buckeye culture that positively impacts our entire community. His appointment is awaiting approval by the board of directors.

Our thanks go to the university’s research committee of faculty, staff and students headed by Senior Vice President and General Counsel Anne Garcia. Their work led to the best possible choice for this position and our university is moving forward. I would also like to thank Mr. Paul Patton, who has been our Acting Chief Human Resources Officer for the past several months. We are grateful for his leadership and look forward to his continued guidance as senior advisor to the President.
