Skillsoft and Ellevate Network Partner to Empower Women + Whose Careers Have Been Disrupted Due to COVID-19
NEW YORK & BOSTON – (COMMERCIAL THREAD) – Skillsoft Corp. (NYSE: SKIL) a world leader in digital learning in business, will announce today at their annual Perspectives event, a partnership with Ellevate Network to support women + whose careers and jobs have been affected by COVID-19. Ellevate, the largest coalition for women +, provides safe spaces for women, non-binary people and male allies to be honest about the job and get actionable validation, perspective and advice.
According to the International Labor Organization, between 2019 and 2020, 4.2% of female jobs were cut as a result of the pandemic, a loss of 54 million jobs. As the economic recovery continues, changes in industry and occupations are expected to have a greater impact on women, requiring new training and more drastic career transitions to re-enter the workforce. The Ellevate Network launched its EllevateHER Forward scholarship program in 2020 to help accelerate the return of women to the workforce, which has so far awarded 500 women who might otherwise not be able to access or afford Ellevate’s resources by joining the network. Skillsoft will be a key sponsor of the 2022 EllevateHER scholarship program.
Selected fellows will have access to Elevate’s programs for entrepreneurs, managers, career-changing people, emerging leaders and senior executives. Programs include access to local community groups, two 12-week online mentoring teams, weekly roundtables, Elevate’s annual Mobilize Women Week summit, and ongoing peer support. The 250 fellows will have access to Skillsoft’s Percipio learning platform and its extensive catalog of learning resources to help these women hone their existing skills and equip themselves with the future skills required for the roles of tomorrow.
“At Ellevate, we have mobilized to fight against the exodus of women into the workforce, as we currently have the lowest number of women in the workplace since 1988,” said Kristy Wallace, CEO of Ellevate Network. “In launching the EllevateHER Forward scholarship program, our goal was accelerate the post-pandemic recovery plan and the promotion of women in the labor market. Through the Skillsoft partnership, we will be able to provide our fellowship community with essential learning resources that will enable them to realize their vision or career goal. ”
The application for the 2022 fellows will open in the middle of next year. Recipients will include, but are not limited to, women laid off due to COVID-19, veterans, women in career transition, and those for whom the cost of membership would be a financial constraint.
“At Skillsoft, we believe the power of learning can be transformative in helping women retrain and re-enter the workforce,” said Michelle Boockoff-Bajdek, CMO, Skillsoft. “Learning provides invaluable tools to help women rise up, rebound and regain influence, power and capital. We remain committed to equipping unemployed and underemployed women with the skills to succeed in today’s economy and believe that the EllevateHER Forward scholarship program, with learning, empowerment and alliance as fundamental principles, can have a tangible impact on the lives and careers of incoming fellows.
